As you’re probably well aware at this point, the local news in Michigan has picked up on the story that Wisconsin thinks it’s The Mitten State. What was that state’s Tourism Board thinking? We’re not exactly sure… We don’t take personal offense to it; we think it’s a pretty funny story. But… why would you run an entire ad campaign that sets you up to look like a knock-off? Michigan is very clearly shaped like a mitten; there’s really no question. Wisconsin? Well, sort of… But that sliver of a thumb is a real stretch. Looks more like a hangnail. You’re the poor man’s version of a mitten, Cheeseheads!

On Fox 17, we joked with Lindsay Kus that news of this story caused us to punch a hole in our office’s wall. We told the Grand Rapids Press that the U.S.A. agrees with Michigan (obviously backed up by super scientific statistics and polls, of course!) and the ABC affiliate in Milwaukee, WISN 12,got in on the action, too.
Maybe team TMS should not cross over into Wisconsin’s borders for a little while. We’re thinking the reception may not be so great for us.
